ShineBright Kids Conference: Building The Foundation

During our first ever Kids Conference, we focused on bringing together families for a day focused on creativity, and connection. Our first event was only the beginning of our mission to support both children and parents by encouraging awareness of mental health and faith, and how the two can come together.

After families received their shirts and materials for the day, the event opened with a short worship session filled with encouragement. The children were given flags and streamers and were encouraged to participate with team members that guided them through a worship session that helped set a positive and engaging tone.

We then moved the children into creative activities where they were able to paint, draw, and color freely. These activities may seem simple, but they gave children the space to express themselves and feel comfortable in the environment.

During the event, our team included a short play and a puppet show to keep the children engaged while introducing important ideas such as the ongoing battle between positive and negative thoughts. Using a good vs. evil theme, along with elements like light sabers, we helped children stay engaged and begin to understand the tension between positive and negative emotions. The play and puppet show were not only a way to keep the children entertained, but also an opportunity to communicate an informative message on mental health and emotions.

A dedicated Parent Talk was also held during the event. While children continue with activities, parents were given a short session focused on practical ways to better support their children and build a strong, healthy family environment through faith and psychology. This ensured that both children and parents were being supported throughout the day.
