Our vision is to provide resources for those still struggling in their walk with Christ, to learn about the role that both faith and mental health play in navigating everyday life. By incorporating both aspects, we hope that we are able to help individuals understand each other which in turn creates unity within families for a brighter future.

ShineBright was born to help bring awareness to mental health. With a foundation of faith, the founders of ShineBright noticed a disbalance in the application and awareness of mental health within Hispanic communities. While many people from these communities take their faith and culture seriously, there was not as much consideration or seriousness brought to mental health. The founders of Shine Bright dealt with this first hand.
From childhood to adulthood Anna was brought up in the church. She was always taught the importance of having faith and trusting in God. This area in her faith was seriously tested when she was diagnosed with postpartum depression. The lack of awareness about mental health brought a lot of uncertainty and confusion which turned into a much more severe depression diagnosis. The reality and severity of her diagnosis became much more real when Anna found herself in the hospital a few times after desperate attempts to put an end to this struggle.
Anna decided it was time to go back to school to educate herself on the root of this struggle. This education allowed her to share with her family about the things she had learned. Wanting to understand and learn more, her family sought to learn more about mental health as well.
While serving in the children’s ministry at church a passion for children and families arose. In August of 2022, ShineBright hosted their first Kids Conference, where themes of emotions and mental health were the spotlight of the event. During this event, many families opened up about their own struggle to understand each other or their children in their own struggles. These conversations showed the need to enlighten others on the importance of creating balance.
What started as a personal experience and journey became a shared mission with friends and family. Shine Bright officially established as a nonprofit organization on May 15th, 2023 with one grand mission, to create an open space for people of all backgrounds to learn more about the importance of maintaining a healthy balance of faith and mental health. What started as an idea turned into workshops, community outreach events, advocacy, and so much more to come.
Today ShineBright hopes to expand and reach even more people and offer more resources to those who may be struggling with similar battles. We hope to create an open and safe space for individuals to come together and support each other with the love and grace gifted to all of God’s creation.
