Anthony Roman
“I think it is important to bring psychology and faith together because they offer different ways of navigating our own lives and understanding the lives of the people around us. Faith helps me surrender what I cannot control, while psychology helps me identify and take responsibility for the things I can. Psychology also helps me look beyond a person’s immediate behavior and consider the history and emotions that may be influencing it, while faith reinforces the hope and inherent value we should recognize in each person.
Having both in my life has taught me how to take greater responsibility for my physical and mental health, my education and my own growth while at the same time recognizing my limits and strengthening my trust in God. Through volunteering and experiences in the emergency room I am around people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Whether through physical illness or mental health struggles, my education in psychology helps me look beyond the moment and consider what may have brought the person there while my faith reinforces the value and hope I see in that person. Altogether, both have strengthened my desire to keep learning about human behavior, health, and all the things that shape people’s lives, including my own.”
Analy Roman
“As someone who is an analytical thinker, I have always been curious about all the small and hidden details of everyday life. The more I learned about Psychology the more I understood the importance of understanding how our minds work to be able to create better habits and navigate life with better mindsets. I believe psychology provides us with the tools necessary to choose the right path that God has set up for us, and to understand why sometimes that path can feel so difficult to chose.
This knowledge allowed me to look deeper into why I do the things I do or feel the ways I feel, to get to the root of my struggles and overcome old habits and thought patterns. I was able to look at the rough sides of me as simply areas that have the possibility to influence me rather than define me. This has given me more security and confidence in my walk with God by being able to differentiate spiritual battles and battles that simply stem from very real yet very normal human experiences.”
Tony & Anna Roman
Anna:
“For me, psychology and theology are personal. I did not learn this from a movie. I lived it! I have gone through things internally that people around me did not always understand. There were moments where what I was feeling was dismissed, like it wasn’t real even by my own family. And that does something to you that becomes very personal. Psychology helped me put words to what I was going through. It showed me that what I felt was real, that there were reasons behind it, and that healing is not impossible but is a process. Learning Theology is what kept me grounded. It reminded me that even when people didn't see me or understood me God did! That I was not alone, and that my healing mattered to Him. So for me, both are important. They are natural resources. Psychology helps me understand the struggle, and theology reminds me there is hope and restoration through God. And because I have lived it, i do not take people's pain lightly. I know what it feels like to not be understood and never want someone else to feel that way. I made a decision to be the voice for the voice less!!!!”
Tony:
“I strongly believe that faith and psychology should be brought together because they create a balance between the spiritual and the natural. Faith helps guide us spiritually, while psychology helps us better understand our thoughts and emotions. When we are willing to learn from both, I believe we are better equipped to grow and become better examples for the next generation.
Applying both psychology and faith in my own life has helped me become more patient and understanding, especially in my relationship with my wife. It has helped me better understand her perspective, as well as my own thoughts and reactions. It has also strengthened my relationship with God. I have learned to trust and have more faith in Him while also recognizing that difficult situations, including struggles with mental health, can be understood and managed with the right support and tools. Romans 12:2 speaks about being transformed through the renewing of our minds. Through my efforts to renew my mind, I can say that the person I am today is not the same person I was before. I strongly believe that understanding our minds and growing in faith can work together.”
Nancy:
“Bringing Both together is needed for addressing emotional, mental and spiritually. Also both are needed to be able to help others and it helps to grow and to be good in every area of your life. It has been beneficial because it has helped me to know how to control my emotions and be spiritually prepared to help those who need it. It has helped me to understand my spouse in Godly ways.”

“It will balance the human behavior and thinking. That is where “Build of Character” comes from in a is where “Be Christ-Like Comes to play. It lets you play the role caring for other people. It helped me to think more like Christ not for myself. Being more like Jesus-like. Having the love of Christ, it mold me to love my wife more than ever and appreciate her.”
Omar & Carolyn Garcia
Carolyn:
“I think it's very important to have theology and psychology working hand in hand. Because what good is it for a person to be so spiritual but all over the place and bleeding on others because they never took the time to deal with the issue at hand in their mind. We have to remember our mind, body, soul, spirit and heart. All play an important role in our everyday life. Mind being first on the list because when we have a sound and healthy mind everything else will fall in place. Now I spend time with God everyday and ask for his help daily. He shows me so I can right my wrongs. But sometimes in our busyness we can miss things. That's why it's good to have people that love you around you to make you accountable for your actions.”
Omar:
"In many religious communities, mental health is treated as a taboo subject, leaving people to suffer in silence. While prayer is powerful, someone in the midst of a mental health crisis needs more than just a promise of future healing; they need to feel understood and supported in the present. Bringing psychology and theology together validates their experience and acknowledges that mental health recovery is a process that requires both spiritual support and clinical understanding." Integrating these two fields has changed how I approach my problems. I still pray for healing and direction, but I no longer ignore the practical side of mental health. Being able to look at my life through both a spiritual lens and a psychological one has helped me understand myself better, making me more patient and aware in my relationship with God and my partner.”
Maria Mauricio
“As a follower of Christ with a minor in Psychology, I believe in the spiritual world while understanding we’re physical beings created in God’s image with mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs. I believe it is important to bring Psychology and Theology together because, while I believe in the power of prayer, having and understanding of human behavior/mind would allow us to better serve the needs of the people. Being aware of both has benefited me by recognizing that having an understanding of God's word is crucial to my growth and connection to the Lord. I've learned that sometimes emotions and my mental state play a big role in how I feel. I've learned to seek Him first while I understand and recognize that seeking outside help is acceptable to help me navigate my emotions.”
Ricardo:
“I think it is important to bring psychology and theology together in order to Bring clarification to lots of "grey" or misdiagnosed areas in not only our daily lives but more so the lives of others in which they don’t have a deep understanding of one or the other and how they actually can provide answers for some of the daily struggles we have.
Being aware and applying both theological and psychological teachings has benefitted to my own Relationship With God and others by being understanding of the possible situations and outcomes that come along with all trials and situations. For example something that could’ve been taught to me in theological teachings for years, can be explained or supported by psychological teachings as well and vice versa. Its important to have a balance of both to better understand the situations and foremost attempt to understand things of why they happen within your own walk with Christ. Doing so has benefitted me in having more time of understanding his will and less of doubting what is going on, or if psychologically there is a deeper root when in reality there is not. Understanding both area's for me has provided a better path ultimately in guiding not only my relationship with Christ but other people as well and in multiple areas where those teachings apply (work, ministry, school etc.).”

Ismerai:
“All my life I have been in the church. I grew up and was raised in the church. More than anyone, I understand how difficult it is to understand that psychology and religion have always been two things that are difficult to reconcile, much less to understand as going hand in hand. It is definitely something I want to implement in my family and try to teach as much as God allows me. I feel more than blessed to be part of an organization that understands the importance of paying attention to the things that usually go unnoticed—not because they don't exist, but because we choose to ignore them.”

Johnathan:
Psychology sees the symptoms and addresses what caused them (Nature VS Nurture along with Environment / Theology empowers, gives hope, and a structure to overcome the root that made the way for the symptoms to exist … in harmony they create a nexus for complete healing.
When the Holy Spirit awakens an understanding of an issue or brings to light the nature, nurture, and environment that created a breeding ground for a thought, idea, or habit. That issue can be dissolved through the transforming power of The Blood of Jesus (our source of redemption) the Holy Spirit (as He unction’s us in tongues, spiritual songs led by Him that wash the hurt away), God’s mercy (as He renews us daily as we read through the Bible and allow it to transform our minds) these things give me hope and a closeness to God that can only be attained by believing in everything Christ Jesus has done. He gives me the strength to encourage my wife. Remembering the Love Jesus the Christ shared with me encourages me to love my wife with the same unconditional love. He also gives me the courage to give second chances to others even after those chances have been violated.
Johnathan & Julia Shafer
Julia:
“It is important because both can be helpful to those that need to go through the process of healing mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. So many people need and are looking for healing in their lives, it takes time to see how it began or any area they may need closure in their lives. So implementing what is needed can help them break out of the cycles or patterns that keep them stuck and can help them find the peace they desire.
It has helped me to bring balance in my body, and be able to receive inner healing from childhood trauma and helped us to communicate better and understand our struggles so that we can learn and grow together to be healthy in our body as well as our soul.”
Robert:
“Bringing them together matters because each one sees something essential about us. On their own they can't capture the whole picture of how people feel, think or act.
It has helped me be more sensitive, compassionate and loving towards my wife, our son and others.”
Robert And Reyna Herrera
Reina:
“Integrating them matters psychology helps understand the mind and Theology speaks to purpose and identity.
It has really shaped me into someone who responds with greater sensitivity, compassion and love. I have become more present, gentle and loving toward my husband and son.”
Norma Cruz
“When we match together psychology and theology it helps create a deeper understanding of human nature, emotional and spiritual healing. While psychology focuses on human behavior and mental processes, theology addresses spiritual identity, divine purpose and a deeper relationship with. To mentor and guide the CWM pastors and volunteers I always refer them to counseling and therapy. For God’s Glory it has worked wonders. Integrating psychology and theology brings long lasting human behavior transformation.
I have received emotional healing, spiritual awakening and divine tools to serve in God's Kingdon. The Art Therapy class by Pastor Anna Roman has been of great edification and transformation in my life. When she taught it in Limon, Costa Rica.”
