3 Wise Men: Guiding Children Through Faith And Emotions
This year, we once again had the opportunity to host our annual 3 Wise Men Day event. We brought families and community members together for a day centered around faith, emotional growth, and connection. The event was created to give children a meaningful way to celebrate the story of the Three Wise Men while also learning healthy ways to understand and respond to their emotions through both faith and practical guidance. The day began with worship, helping create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere where children felt excited to participate and connect with others.
Throughout the event, families participated in activities focused on emotional awareness and positive decision-making. Our “Follow the S.T.A.R.,” workshop taught children to Stop, Think, Ask, and Respond before reacting impulsively, encouraging both children and parents to reflect on how emotions and actions affect the people around them. Another meaningful activity, “Casting Your Cares,” invited children to place written worries, fears, or frustrations onto a cross as a symbol of trusting God with what they are carrying emotionally. Parents then replaced those hearts with encouraging messages to remind their children that they are loved, supported, and never alone. These activities created opportunities for open encouragement and connection between families in a simple but meaningful way.
The event also included a live nativity presentation featuring the story of the Three Wise Men, Mary, and Jesus, reminding children about trust, faith, and guidance during life’s challenges. One of the most exciting moments of the day was the annual toy giveaway, made possible through the generosity of community donations and supporters. Because of this continued support, even more toys were provided to children and families this year. This portion of the event not only served to bring excitement and joy, but also served as a reminder of the importance of kindness. Children were reminded that they were able to enjoy such amazing toys due to the kindness and support of others. In the same way they are encouraged to show the same kindness and compassion the same way Jesus has shown us all. This event continued ShineBright’s mission of helping families better understand mental health, emotions, psychology, faith, and kindness in ways that are practical, supportive, and centered around everyday lives.
